Meet The Trainers

Danielle Prince

Many of you may recognize Danielle as she has been with Doggy Day Out since April, 2003, and is also our kennel manager. Danielle turned her hobby of dog training into a full-time career in the summer of 2006. She graduated from the National K-9 School for Dog Trainers in Columbus, Ohio as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She also has certifications in Advanced Obedience, Behavior Modification, Scent Detection, Tracking, Retrieval, Utility, and Puppy Development. Danielle is also an approved evaluator for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and STAR puppy programs offered through the AKC.

Danielle gives back to the dog community as an agent and foster mom for Border Collie Rescue of Texas, which is also were her 2 youngest “furr-kids” came from. She is also an agent and foster for Russel Rescue Inc.

Danielle trained her first dog, a Bull Mastiff mix, when she was 12 years old and the joy of teaching dogs has been with her ever since. All of her current dogs are titled. Bob, a 10 year old shar pei / lab mix has earned his Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate. As a rescue dog, Bob had a rough start to his life and was very wary of new people. Through Danielle's guidance, Bob has become a well- adjusted mellow companion, who prefers to hang out on the couch watching cartoons and Animal Planet. Danielle's 6 year old black Lab Luke was also a rescue. Luke has his CGC as well as Companion Dog (CD) and Novice and Advanced Rally titles. Luke would rather spend his days playing big brother and best bud to the daycare and boarding clients at Doggy Day Out so he has retired from the show ring and his mild disposition is perfectly suited for showing new dogs the ins and outs of doggy daycare.

Danielle’s three youngest dogs live for dog sports. Liberty-Belle is a 4 year old Jack Russell Terrier who is full of spunk and quite the busy body. She too is everyone's best friend regardless of whether in competition or working the booth at one of the many dog shows she attends throughout the year. Liberty has earned her CGC, CD, Novice Rally (RN) and Advanced Rally (RA) titles. She has also earned her FDCH-S in flyball, and Novice DockDogs titles. Liberty is a member of the Electric Dawg Flyball Club that trains twice weekly at Doggy Day Out. In addition, Liberty also attends JRTCA trials and competes in racing, lure coursing, and go-to-ground. Liberty hopes to begin competing in Agility soon, and maybe even return to the obedience and Rally rings. As we said in the beginning, this is one tireless dog! Makena Zoom-Zoom is a 2 year old Border Collie that started out as a foster and never left. She competes in flyball and DockDogs and has earned her FDCH and Junior Dockdogs titles. Makena also hopes to add Agility to her bag of tricks soon.

The newest addition to the family is Mika, a 1 year old Border Collie also from BCRT. Mika has just begun competing in Dock Diving, and hopes to play flyball with her big sisters. We look for big things to come from Miss Mika.

We'd like to congratulate our head trainer Danielle Prince on her recent selection as 1 of only 10 trainers in Texas to be selected for the Extreme Mutt Makeover in conjunction with the people who created the Extreme Mustang Makeover.  Her shelter dog Colt was adopted into a loving home and is enjoying his new family.
